SCIENCE AND BENEFITS FOR PRESCHOOLERS

Is it beyond children’s ability if we let them get familiar with science? The answer is no because “science” is not only something subliminal that children will have to wait to understand when they grow up but instead it’s a simple phenomenon in all children’s daily lives.

As early as preschool, the child’s access to science is to create conditions for the establishment and development of a bright soul, innocence, kindness, loving feelings with loved ones and with the life around them. They learn how to love, protect nature and create self-made products.

Science arouses intellectual curiosity and discovery in children. Children do not like to just stand outside to “observe and listen,” following an adult or being told what to do. Let them discover rather than be taught, by brainstorming on their own children will remember longer, voluntarily doing what they love.

To let children explore the surroundings by themselves not only helps them remember longer, but also helps develop their patience.

When something is beyond a child’s ability of explanation, they will question. The questions about the unknown will help children develop their communication skills, interact with people and help them better understand themselves and the world around them.

When children begin to perceive the world, there are numerous things that they do not know and always need answers from parents.

The question often arises:

  • Why does it rain? Where does rain come from?
  • Where do trees come from? How do they live?
  • Why can clouds fly?
  • Where was I born?
  • Why do adults have gray hair?

… And many other things.

Sometimes parents are so busy that they feel bothered with those kinds of questions, answer quickly or scold children for not asking more. Parents shouldn’t do that. Initial knowledge always leaves a certain imprint in the child’s mind. Don’t belittle this issue, this will very easily lead to misperceptions, or because children are afraid of being scolded, they will not ask anymore. Since then, it might make children become shy whenever they want to express their ideas later.

Therefore, parents try to answer the simplest way that children wonder. In fact, children can’t understand the complex parlance of adults, only a few simple sentences are enough for children to nod and turn to other matters. If parents don’t have much time, just keep it and answer them whenever you have free time.

Some science games for preschoolers:

  • Learning to count with familiar things
  • Sales Game
  • Throwing the ball into the basket
  • Planting trees (We put the soil into the pot, let children sow the seeds, find bright places and guide children to water and let them feel deeper about the development of trees)
  • Making cakes
  • Role-play in “family meal”
  • Learning about the animals living on trees
  • Mixing clothes through fashion design contest
  • Learning about the objects around them (what material do you use? Is there any effect? In everyday life where can we see this product?…)

Getting used to the “Science” is an opportunity for children to learn and accumulate knowledge from an early age in a very natural way.
