LIVING IN TREES

Last week the Living in Trees project helped students at Kindy City International Preschool understand more about the close relationship between plants and animals, particularly focusing on animals that live in trees.

The outdoor learning method (based on activities) included the trip to the zoological park and the ‘Family Garden’ botanical garden. This trip provided the children with a real experience, where they could combine what they had learned with what they observed, enabling the children to strengthen and expand their knowledge of the outdoors.

The most interesting element of the trip was when the children observed the lifecycle of butterflies, namely the pollination process, which helped them to understand more about the diversity of animals. The Koala kids were fascinated by the butterflies and expressed their ideas in an adorable way. Furthermore, on the train tour the children were really surprised by the shapes and sizes of different species of animals. Meanwhile, in the higher classes (panda and dolphin), the children gained unforgettable memories of the activities they played in the Garden – Pond – Barn model. The children were all very enthusiastic to harvest fruit and vegetables, feed the livestock and participate in many team-building activities.

The trip not only educated the children on animal science and improved their their observation skills in a hands-on environment, but also introduced the children to basic life skills such as team work and good behaviour in public places. Learning from reality and through play are integral parts of the educational method used when teaching the children at Kindy City International Preschool and were a main focus of the trip.

Learning from reality, learning through play and building the understanding as well as polite behavior through integrated projects is the educational method and raising children of KINDY CITY International Preschool.

Here are some photos of the “Learn through play” section of the trip.

Life values, life skills and development areas are always intertwined within the learning activities and games at Kindy City, so that the children can continue to grow in knowledge and character.
