Teachers play an important role in students’ lives, as the teachers’ behavior will directly influence a child’s personality development. Children always need a role model to follow and it requires a great deal of flexibility, ingenuity, and deep understanding of the psychological characteristics of each child.

At the kindergarten age, children’s behaviors are mostly based on their instinct. This means they will act according to what they want, without rational thinking. With patience, teachers can easily help them stay calm and redirect them to positive manners.

Below are 10 ways to effectively communicate between teachers/ parents and kindergarten kids, which aim at provoking their passion for learning and senses of proper manners.

  • Talk to the kids. Adapt appropriate tone and volume according to the content and context of the conversation.
  • Call the kids by their names, encourage them to use their names and call others by name while communicating.
  • Model the proper communicative behaviors, including greetings: hello, goodbye, thank you, agree, disagree, respond upon being called by name, etc.
  • Encourage kids to imitate the sounds of new vocabularies. Help them produce longer sentences.
  • Make use of the materials and toys as tools to boost the kids’ communication skills: enhance linguistics skills and non-verbal interaction (facial expressions, body language, gestures while playing…)

During this stage, all interactions of teachers play a vital role to the comprehensive development of the children. Therefore, with passion and love for children, help master the communication and “psychological” behavior of your child. Teachers not only reap tangible pedagogical achievements, but also give students values of life to benefit their lifelong learning process.
