With the motto ‘Learn through Play’, Kindy City International Preschool introduced a new multi-dimensional project “Ball study”, one of the ten year-round topics.
Last mid-October, a number of indoor and outdoor activities were organized under the theme of “Balls Study’. Some examples included making pretty balls from special materials or outdoor physical games with balls. The theme also included a ‘Happy Time’ at Hoang Van Thu park and Tao Dan park which was a chance for the students to physically explore what they have learned with the topic Balls Study.
Under the wide tree branches, students had a good time participating in physical exercises with balls, bonding with a spirit of teamwork as well as strengthening their language skills.
Games such as ‘Catching and Throwing’, ‘Water gun races’, ‘Basketball’, ‘Bouncing saucers’ required the children to use their gross motor skills to catch, throw and bounce the balls, and required the children’s mathematics skills and strategic minds to win the various games.

Throwing, catching, tossing, and kicking are simple but complementary movements. These movements require hand-eye coordination with the other muscles of the body to help children complete fine motor and gross motor skills. These developments together will be useful for children when practicing writing, cycling and other skills later in life.
