Natural environment, green landscape and the animals – not only have material meaning and value but also spiritual ones for humans. So, how about children? How do we teach them to love and respect for the natural environment?
The best way for children to acquire this is through experiences related to what is familiar and comfortable. Therefore, the best place for children to begin to learn about the natural environment is similar to what they already know. It could be just a fruit tree or a flower blossoming in the yard before the child is introduced to the bigger picture. Or, in other words, if parents want their children to learn about the natural environment, they should let the kids get on well with nature.
With the project about learning popular science “Trees Study”, Kindy City International Preschool is implementing two important goals including educating the future generations to understand the importance of the environment in general and protecting plants as well.
The project “Trees Study” integrates many aspects to help children become familiar with plant life and some tree animals; understand the role of solar energy for the development and growth of plants; and train their skills of observation and judgment when visiting the orchid garden, bonsai and cactus garden. This project particularly helps them improve the sharing and cooperation in groups while exploring the aquarium, learning about the life of underwater plants and species such as fish, coral, etc.
Thereby, the children will have feelings for the greenery and preserve the environment around them.
