After 2 weeks exploring different kinds of boxes, students at Kindy City International School had an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills learnt in class via a variation of interesting pretend – play activities.
Students were fully engaged in dramatic plays with cardboard model hospitals, fire stations, police stations, theatres, supermarkets and restaurants, etc., which were decorated with colored – paper, glue and crayons.
Role – playing is a social activity where children learn about the surrounding environment. This allows them to experiment things that belong to adults’ world only. Moreover, pretend play helps students to have a good sense of task assignments, and their own roles in group work.
This kind of imaginary game helps students enhance the skills they need to socialize and interact with their peers. They negotiate roles and develop the scripts. During the play, children will understand their characters and how to act corresponding to their roles. Role-play stimulates imagination and strengthens self – expression.
